After getting familiar with Burning Tree and noticing all of the unique environmental aspects of the property, I decided to spearhead the certification process with Audubon International to become an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. The ACSP is an environmental education and certification program to help golf courses protect the environment while preserving the natural heritage of the game of golf. While getting certified at Burning Tree we added bluebird nesting boxes, created multiple pollinator gardens, and lowered our chemical usage. Miacomet Golf Club has been certified since 2017 and recently re-certified in 2023.
